Most of the instructions say that I should click the Bluetooth icon in the Control Panel, but there is no such icon.

I looked for Bluetooth entries in the Device Manger. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. It is there. It opens the "Add a device" box I mentioned earlier. It does the same thing when started from the Start button I assume that's what you mean by "Orb" as when I started it from the "Devices and Printers" dialog: it goes away to search and never comes back.

That's enabled. Hi You are doing everything correctly, so all I can think of is that the mouse is not working properly. PS: if you click on the adapter a menu will appear at the top click on 'Change Settings' to see if there is anything showing up as not working.

One last thing right click on the Bluetooth icon and choose 'open settings' see if the tick box that allows Bluetooth devices to connect to your computer is ticked.

As I said, the Control Panel has no Bluetooth icon. The Network dialog's main display doesn't say anything about Bluetooth. The Network Connections display says that the Bluetooth Network Connection is enabled but "Not connected," whatever that means. I'm starting to suspect that my computer does not have Bluetooth hardware.

If that's true, I'm shocked. It's a midrange laptop made by a first-string manufacturer in When I bought it earlier this year I didn't ask whether it had Bluetooth, just as I wouldn't ask whether a car had an airbag.

It's something you just expect. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Search the community and support articles Windows Windows 7 Search Community member.

Just to make sure I am not misunderstanding you, Type add a Bluetooth device in the search box, click on it, when the window opens windows 7 should discover your device, if it does click on it and then next you may need to enter a pin number press enter.

If windows does not discover your mouse then there may be some other problem. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to RonBarker's post on October 19, Do you mean: type "Add a Bluetooth device" in the Control Panel's search box?

I hadn't thought of doing that. I tried it, though, and the search returned nothing. In reply to Orthoducks's post on October 19, No, I mean in the normal search box by clicking on the Orb. If it is not there Bluetooth is not operating on your computer. PS: are you sure Bluetooth is turned on, some Laptops have the option of turning it on and off? Perhaps this is because Bluetooth is not operating.

If that's the case, how can I activate it? In reply to Orthoducks's post on October 20, In reply to RonBarker's post on October 20, Type services. There's a Bluetooth Support Service which is listed as both "Started" and "Manual" -- a combination I have trouble understanding, since I never started it.
